Agility, Dock Diving, and Obedience Instructor (CGC Evaluator)
All of Katy’s four dogs participate in various dog sports, such as Nose Work, Rally Obedience, Agility, Dock Diving, Lure Coursing, and Sheep Herding. Katy frequently uses her dogs in her classes to demonstrate techniques – her main “go to” dog is Stella, a 3 year old rescue Border Collie. In Stella’s first year of competing in agility, she qualified for the 2012 AKC Agility Nationals, and this summer she performed for the Purina Incredible Dog Team at a frisbee event in St. Louis, MO. Katy has also been actively involved in dog rescue for six years and 3 of her dogs are rescues themselves! When she is not training or teaching sports, Katy loves to free-shape and use clicker training to teach basic tricks like sit pretty and wave, to more advanced tricks like handstands, blowing bubbles in a water dish, and opening/closing doors. Her philosophy is to create a thinking dog when training so that the possibilities are endless. Katy is also an AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Evaluator.
